Lunch at Met Bar & Grill in Natick Mall

We are not big meat eaters and that is why even though we had seen this restaurant nestled below PF Chang, we never at there, until yesterday.  We were in the holiday spirit and it seemed like a good idea to try something different in the spirit of the holiday season.  We were seated promptly by a cheerful hostess.  The waiter was a little bit snooty.  Maybe it had something to do with his middle age or he was just overworked on a busy Friday before the long Christmas weekend.

I ordered a regular chicken sandwich and my wife wanted the same but with something called Tokyo style (instead of your usual lettuce and tomato they add a few other things).  We both also ordered specialty beers (they have a good selection if you like to try new beers).  The food took longer than usual for lunch but what shocked both of us was that the chicken was not hot.  It was not super cold either but just about room temperature.  At a grill we expected the piece of chicken to be super warm, right off the grill.  In any case, the burger is nothing to rave about.  In our spirit of adventure, I opted for fries with cheese and my wife chose sweet potato fries, but the way the waiter asked the question while we were ordering was as if you could pick either these two or plain fries.  It turns out that they add a few dollars to your bill and call it a substitute (I am guessing that the restaurant may win a lawsuit because it might be spelled out somewhere on the menu but I thought that it was a bit sneaky).  So with tips, the check added up to $47.  Not cheap for lunch in a mediocre restaurant in a mall.  Next time when I want to spend so much for lunch, I will drive just a bit longer and eat in Boston, where there are several great restaurants for that kind of price.  Conclusion: not going back there for anything and if you like your hard earned money you are better off at PF Chang, California Pizza Kitchen, Cheesecake Factory, or Nordstrom Cafe, all of whom are more fairly priced.
