Lunch buffet at Singh's Cafe in Wellesley, MA is two meals for the price of one

We almost never eat at Indian restaurants because the food is way too calorie-rich.  Once in a while, though we do it just for the sake of variety.  So when we asked our Indian friends for recommendations of good restaurants the Boston suburbs, two names popped up: Masala Art in Needham and Singh's Cafe in Wellesley Hills.  Last year, we went for dinner at Masala Art and while we ate way for calories at dinner than we typically do, it was a reasonably good restaurant with good food and service. Today, we ended up at Singh's Cafe for their Sunday lunch buffet. Now, because we watch our calories very carefully, we really should never step inside a restaurant serving it, but for some reasons that I am yet to figure out, like many Chinese places, Indian restaurants also seem to serve buffet for lunch.  The decoration is a bit cheesy and the fact that you eat in a basement is a bit disappointing because why would anyone eat without seeing natural light at noon in the suburbs?  The

Oh look, under Obamacare our health insurance premiums dropped

Since my wife and I are self-employed, we buy our own health insurance.  While we love so many things about being entrepreneurs and working from home, it does hurt having to pay 100% of our premiums.  Sadly enough, during last so many years, regardless of what happened to the economy or our revenues, two things have consistently gone up: our health insurance premiums and real estate taxes (yes, even though property prices were falling in our area, and our town lowered the assessed value of our home, they still raised our taxes).  And all this time while every single Republican was attacking Obamacare and the media was screaming about how the world as we know it would end, we were becoming sleepless not knowing what would happen to our premiums.  Well, now we know.  As the time of renewal came and the deadline for Massachusetts health insurance to comply with Affordable Care Act (ACA) arrived, we have been informed that our monthly premium will drop by 15%, giving us a net saving of alm

Lunch at Thai Place restaurant in Framingham

I often tease my wife that despite never having visited Thailand or Vietnam (we lived together in Japan, though, for years, and have traveled to a few Asian countries), she loves Thai food.  Most of the time we grab our meals at Chim Thai, Thai Pepper, and Pan Thai, but then we saw a sign on Route 9 for Thai Place (290 Worcester Road).  Since we are often in the area for weekly shopping at Whole Foods Market or Trader Joe's or the Natick Mall, it is convenient to eat there, and this afternoon we did just that.  We had a pleasant overall experience: very reasonable prices, excellent service, and delicious food.  It is not a gourmet restaurant with exotic dishes; it is a neighborhood eatery for families who are looking for decent food at reasonable prices.  Definitely recommended.
